Years ago, I remember that Lil' Wayne came out with a song entitled “Sky’s the Limit”. Now let me pause for just a second, before you start judging, yes this is a Christian blog and yes, I am a Christian, but I have not always been the person that I am today. But I remember when that song came out, I remember saying don’t tell me that the sky is the limit when there are other planets and humans have walked on the moon. I’ve always been the one that thinks outside of the box, to analyze everything from every angle.
We as humans have a way of putting limits on everything surrounding us. We have a way of trying to think outside of the box but only to a certain degree. But has humans and as Christians, we have to remember that there are no limits to what we can do. We have to come to the realization that not only are we limitless, but we must also limit less. Every day, every situation (especially the not so pleasant ones) we limit our thinking, our walk in life, based off of what we see. But we must begin to walk by faith and not by sight in every aspect of our lives.
Beginning to operate in faith in everything we do is the first step in taking the limits off of our lives and our situations. Now as we continue this walk in life, the journey of the unknown we must now and always take the limit off of the following:
1. Ourselves
The first thing we tend to do is limit ourselves. When we begin to operate in fear we begin to limit our ability to think beyond that point that we are at now. Limiting yourself keeps you from the many blessings that God has for you in life. When you place a limit on yourself, you are telling God that you don’t believe you can be fully the person He has called you to be. I don’t believe that I will amount to the calling that you have on my life.
Everyday we limit ourselves by not walking fully in our purpose. We limit ourselves by operating in fear and not the presence and power of God. We limit ourselves by not trusting the process. We limit ourselves by the way that we think, the way that we act, the way that we handle life, if we are not operating and thinking about things from God’s perspective. And get this, we also limit ourselves by the circle that we keep. People that surround you will place limits on you by the way that they treat you and the words they speak into you. Be careful of those that don’t support you as you and your calling, but are quick to be there when they need you. When you surround yourself with those individuals, their low standards of you can easily become the standards you have for yourself.
In order to stop limiting ourselves when it comes to our circle, we must first recognize the individuals that put you into a box to keep you from be who you are truly meant to be and we must secondly surround ourselves with individuals, Godly individuals, that are on your level or higher, people you can learn from. When you switch your circle to a more supportive one, one of higher standards, one operating on a level higher than you, you will begin to see your level elevate, your mindset shift and the limits will begin to fade.
2. Prayer
When we limit ourselves, it causes a ripple effect that causes you to begin to limit other aspects of your life. The first ripple, when you limit yourself is it causes you to limit your prayer. Because you have put yourself in a box and see yourself at a smaller level, it causes your prayer to also be placed in that box. When you think small, you pray small. Jesus gives us the model prayer in Matthew 6. In the prayer we are prompted with:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
When we pray for the things of heaven, set our mind on things above, we begin to acknowledge God for the Almighty, Sovereign God, and begin to pray at a higher level. We stop praying small, limiting our prayer, and begin to have faith and believe in what we are praying for. A lot of times we are praying small because we don't truly believe that we deserve what we are praying for or are second guessing whether God will really grant us what we are praying for. So when you taking the limits off of yourself, you begin to believe you deserve greater and begin praying for greater.
3. God

When you limit yourself it leads to limiting your prayers, which ultimately leads to limiting God. We will place God in a box and not allow Him to do everything He wants to do in our lives. But truth is God is not a man that He shall lie. All of the promises that God has for our lives will come to pass. God wants greater and bigger for you and I and we place Him in a box we don't allow Him to fully be God. We want to pull God out of the box when it is convenient for us but we must have faith that God will be all that need and more in our lives.
God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think in our lives today and everyday. Take the limits off of God in every aspect in your life and watch as He make ways out of no ways, shift things in your favor and continue to grant you grace and mercy. God is able to do the impossible and when you trust Him and have faith in His Word, you allow Him to release the possible in an impossible situation.
We have to walk fully in the promises of God. Have faith in God. Lean not on our own understanding but lean on God. And when we do that, your prayers become bigger, your way of thinking becomes greater, your walk in faith and relationship with God becomes stronger.
Welcome God into your life, into your situation. Give Him the full authority to work in your life, to work on you, to work in your situation. This cycle of Limitless thinking, prayer and authority will take you to greater heights. Stop limiting yourself, stop limiting your prayer and stop limiting God. Today declare that you will begin to live the full life that God has for you. Become limitless and begin to limit less.
